Count the whole contract
Subtract the contract’s economic expenses from its price before sales taxes, then divide by all hours. Include preparation, revisions, meetings, messages and administration, not only delivery.
Example
A CAD 3,200 contract with CAD 350 of costs and 55 total hours leaves CAD 2,850, or about CAD 51.82 per hour before personal taxes and contributions. A negative result means the entered expenses exceed the price.
This calculation does not establish whether expenses are deductible. Use the freelance rate planner to compare this contract with your income target and billable capacity.
